Tsawwassen Beach Home

Tsawwassen, BC

The Tsawwassen Beach Home was conceived as an exclusive oceanfront home overlooking Boundary Bay. The plan maximizes its frontage and views to the ocean, whilst the living spaces wrap around to enclose a south facing courtyard, sheltered from the ocean exposure. The main living space is double-fronted, opening onto both the courtyard and onto an expansive deck providing panoramic views of Mount Baker and Centennial Beach.

A large over-sailing roof, with cedar soffits, cantilevers over the building protecting it from the often wild weather conditions. The serrated plan found on the upper floor gives all of the bedrooms, and gym, views to the ocean. From the gym, expansive corner glazed windows look out over a large living roof to the ocean beyond. Natural light is drawn into the ground floor plan from the ribbon of sliding glass doors that form the oceanfront elevation and courtyard perimeter.

Generously sized windows throughout mean very little artificial lighting is required during the day. Keeping the house smart, and sustainable, a highly efficient HRV system provides consistent fresh air exchange and heat recovery. Insulation, and natural ventilation is maximized through-out the home. Simplicity of the open plan layout, and an abundance of natural beauty come together to create a unique living space.
